The Dunefox.
Available for long-term rental at low, low prices.
AKA 'Number 8'.
I added a few plastic bits from a couple of different Imperial Army (yes, that's what I'm calling them now) sprues as that sort of thing always livens up a resin kit which can lean towards the blocky end of the aesthetics spectrum. I was going for knackered with the paint job as the action is on a sandstorm-blasted part of Boone's Landing and I just messed about experimenting with new techniques, cut-up sponges and Tamiya weathering sticks taking a starring role.
I will be reviving a couple of story-arcs from last years pre-baby shenanigans as an old friend is free to come over for the first time in a while. Not wanting it to be a one-off I may take the plunge into solo wargaming to keep the narrative going for the blog in between play sessions. What do you think, too weird? Or is it almost acceptable now like online dating?
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey, I like that! I can really feel the sense of RT-ism coming out of the model, nice one!
ReplyDeleteAhh, the lack of time has made me ask myself the same question from time to time... I would have no objections to some solo playing if in the mood for that, but I'm too lazy, I'm afraid :P I need someone coming home to encourage me to take all the minis and scenery out of the wardrobe...
Thanks Suber! Take a look through the Daemonscape store if you get the chance, it is full of quirky sci-fi goodness. that's a very good point about enthusiasm for solo wargaming.
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteReally nice vehicle there! It really fits in with the Rogue Trader setting and solo gaming is great fun too if done right and is good for keeping a campaign going too!
All the best!
Thanks mate! Looks like I will be trying out some solo stuff, needs must with our situation (social circle has been baby-bombed).
DeleteVery nice work Paul. It definitely looks well-used and weather-beaten.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Tamsin, glad I got what I was aiming for.
DeleteBrilliant, a very convincing alternative for the Taurox I wax considering buying really. This vehicle looks just like what I expect my ash waste nomads to cruise in.
ReplyDeleteThe solar panels really are the cherry on the cake for my eco-friendly heart ;)
I forgot to add the painting is absolutely gorgeous and will be shamefully copied (I mean some attempts to copy it will be made)
DeleteYeah, I'm probably still going to get a Taurox even though I don't need it. Got the conversion kit from Zinge ready to go, just waiting for my next trip to Leeds. Glad you like the work, thanks very much for the praise.

ReplyDeleteOoh, thats great, I really like the broad tracks. Do you have a photo of the vehicle with a 28mm alongside by any chance? Some of the Daemonscape models look better with 28mms than others (the old GZG models that they have are more 25mm than 28 really, but mostly look pretty good with 28mm all the same).
I just painted a Daemonscape lander a couple of weeks ago:

They have a great range and in my experience the castings are all very high quality.
The paint job works very well too. A great addition. Im going to have to get one of those.
I have put up a size comparison post, let me know if you need any other angles. I absolutely love that lander but every time I go to buy it, it's out of stock. :( Your post was great, I saw it at the time, but it made me jealous! Can't go wrong with this one, for a tenner it's ace.
DeleteThanks for the comp shot, Ill take a look.
DeleteI bought the Dropship a while back. I think that it was mentioned as being part of the final batch available for a while, so I took the plunge. It was worth it: its a great kit.
I got talking to Terry at Daemonscape after I painted the lander. He is retooling it at the moment I think so hopefully it will be available again soon.
£10 is very competitive price-wise, thats for sure. The Daemonscape ranges are great value.
That's good news, I will keep checking back. I want the bus too because it matches some fluff on the 'Lost Worlds' in the RT book.
DeleteThat looks really nice, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI want to get some more generic sci-fi vehicles, thank you for the link :)
My pleasure Stygianheart, and thanks for the compliment!
