Lord Savage and the Seahawks.

I have taken a few snaps of some members of my Slaaneshi warband that I'm taking to the Oldhammer Weekend, mostly ones you haven't seen before.

Lord Savage himself.

On the charge.

Third pose, he is Slaaneshi and therefore more than a little narcissistic.

The surviviors of the original crew of Savage's ship.

Vigaraux the Ogre pirate. Feared from Marienburg to Magritta.

I have a finished warband now but now I know I have some time I am going to add some more detail to the Beastmen (including a freehand banner hopefully) and paint up a replacement for Grollo (whose colour scheme wasn't very exciting because I still wanted him to fit into Golgfag's Troopers) so they will appear in a day or two, along with a team photo of course.

The Elves are in need of quite a bit more highlighting, particularly extreme highlights, and the bases need a quick lick of brown in one or two patches but I am pleased with the amount of progress I have made with time to spare.

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks AndrĂ¡s!

It's a lovely miniature, also I had fun messing about with the two skin tone theme of the Dragonhorse.

  3. Looks very nice and I am a big fan of the mini you used for Lord Savage. Any change to see to whole warband? Thx/Hans

    1. Thanks Don!

It is a wonderful sculpt! I showed it to a friend of mine tonight, in the flesh so to speak, and he couldn't stop marveling at all the detail on that model.

I have started adding some mangy, piebald and albino features to the Beastmen plus a new freehand banner so while they were previously 'done' I'm now back to working on them. They should be ready very soon though and the other Ogre won't take very long to get ready so I will do some more shots of the whole crew in a day or two.

    2. Yes! The only problem I have with the mini is that the rider doesn't really fit in the saddle (not a big problem though). If I would do a Slaanesh warband he would definitely be the leader /Hans

    3. Actually there was a bit of work involved in making him look comfortably, fortunately lead responds well to patient coaxing! I needed to green stuff a couple of joins on the Dragonhorse too, nothing drastic though.

  4. Very nice warband. I appreciate Lord Savages narcissism in as much as it allowed me to enjoy all the detail of the base and figure.

It is a classic sculpt of the era and a joy to paint. I may do a few more 'give us a twirl' shots of other miniatures if people are interested.

  5. Great warband.
I love the way you have painted Lord Savage and the Dragon-Horse, as well as the rest of the warband. Like the conversion work on the Ogre too.

    1. Thanks very much indeed Lee!

As I've said above, that particular model really is an absolute joy, to paint and behold. The Ogre's weapon had snapped off of it's own accord so I saw it as an opportunity to give him an interesting new feature.

  8. I'm afraid I won't have much more to say than what's already been said but anyway, I can tell you that's an excellent warband and a very good PJ you've achieved here!

Lord Savage's mount is really well blended and has just the right balance of realistic/fantasy (to my taste).

    1. Lord Savage never tires of praise!

Thanks Asslessman, glad you like the warband. The two-tone effect of the Dragonhorse came about precisely because I was aiming for the balance you mention, very glad I pulled it off satisfactorily!

  9. Very nice work - Lord Savage looks suitably fine and I definitely prefer your more naturalistic approach than the lime green and pink schemes I've seen on the same model - possibly an old Golden Demon entry?

I'm quite fond of those old ogres too - Nick Lund? Got a couple I'd also pegged for a chaos warband, although I think they may have been recruited by my Hobgoblins...

    1. Thanks T, glad you like them! If I ever saw that GD entry you mention my mind has thankfully blanked it out!

The Ogres are lovely, old Nick Lund pre-slotta sculpts, well spotted. Ogres are notorious mercenaries, no doubt they will happily fight for both the Hobgoblins and Chaos!
